About the Role

We are currently recruiting experienced Senior Support Workers to work within a Learning Disability and Autism Respite Centre. This role involves supporting young adults with learning disabilities, autism spectrum conditions, behaviours that may challenge, epilepsy, and complex needs in a safe, person-centred environment.

The successful candidate will lead by example, provide high-quality care and support, and assist junior staff during shifts while promoting independence, dignity, and wellbeing for all service users.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provide person-centred support to individuals with learning disabilities and autism
  • Support service users with daily living activities, personal care, meals, medication, and community access
  • Promote independence, choice, dignity, and inclusion at all times
  • Act as a senior member of staff on shift, supporting and guiding Support Workers
  • Complete accurate daily records, incident reports, handovers, and care documentation
  • Assist with risk assessments, behaviour support plans, and care plans
  • Support individuals who may display behaviours that challenge
  • Ensure safeguarding procedures are always followed
  • Respond appropriately to emergencies and incidents
  • Build positive relationships with service users, families, and multidisciplinary teams
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and supportive environment
  • Follow all company policies and procedures, including health & safety and infection control

Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year experience working within care/support work settings
  • Previous senior experience preferred
  • Experience supporting individuals with learning disabilities and autism essential
  • Experience with behaviours that challenge and epilepsy desirable
  • Medication administration experience preferred
  • Good communication and leadership skills
  • Ability to remain calm and professional under pressure
  • Flexible and reliable approach to work
  • Enhanced DBS Certificate (Update Service preferred)
  • Right to Work in the UK
  • NVQ 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care
